As a family, we felt it necessary for our mother to lead a fulfilling life during these silver years. Prior to attending the Legacy Center, Mama was adamant that she did not need to attend this program. “I could stay in my own house for free” is what Mama would say. We did everything in our power to convince Mama that she needed to be active during the day rather than stay at home being inactive. In the beginning Mama had tears in her eyes each day, convinced that she was being harmed and in some sort of danger at The Legacy Center. She was often comforted by The Legacy Center staff. Mama would say to me, I don’t know why I’m saying these things, because these folks are simply wonderful. As Mama continued going to the Legacy Center, she eagerly looked forward to attending each day. Now, each day, Mama wants to make sure that her purse is filled with peppermint treats for all her friends at the Legacy Center.
Thank you, Legacy Center!
